2 days in Dubai!

That's right...

we spent 2 fun filled days in the UAE and had a blast!

We went skiing INSIDE...

 

saw the tallest building in the world...

 

and went to a quilt shop of course!

 

It was a wonderful experience  with so many amazing sights...

 

And it was FREE, because I just went will Bill on his trip.

 

I even got a cozy sleeper seat both ways...

 

and I got see where Bill rests...

 
My only question...

 

why don't I do this more often?

Guess where we went?

Here are some hints:

1. It took 15.5 hours (by plane) to get there.

2. We went to the beach and snow skiing on the same day!

3. We went to a quilt shop (of course!)

3. We saw the world's tallest building, went to an aquarium and watched a water fountain show all from the same place.

4. We saw women in burkas at Starbucks and others in mini skirts at the mall.

5. We ate some DELICIOUS food!

This quilt

is finally finished!

 
I made it in a workshop with my local guild last month.

It was fun to make, and to quilt.

I finally finished the binding yesterday.

I honestly don't know what I plan to do with it.

It is very large though, so we'll see.

Bad knees...

apparently run in his family.

 
The vet told us today that he's got one knee that is really bad and one that is only half bad.

Poor guy.

He's starting his glucosamine supplements today.

Let's hope they taste better than they smell, whew.

Love him SO MUCH.

Just realized...

that I had not shared a picture of this quilt.

 
It's one of my all time favorites, and I plan to make another in different colors.

I made this one at a retreat in Toccoa, GA in 2008, but finally finished it in early 2009.

My amazingly talented friend, Sue Hunston, did the quilting for me.

Just thought you might like to see it!

The Fair

was better than ever!

These three got to go two days in a row!

 

They had fun on this...

while I had fun here...

 

with a view of this... (and the aroma!)

 

But we had enough fun to last us until this time again next year!

Whew...I need a nap!

It's that time

of year again.

The kids have been patiently counting down the days

and now it is finally here...

 

The Country Fair is in town all week!

We have been the last two nights, and wow.

Wow.

It was fun...

funnel cakes, wild rides, cute animals,

what else could you want?

We might need to visit just one more time!

HST

is not a communicable disease, it is quilt lingo for "half square triangles"

and I have been busy all summer trading them with a few friends.

This weekend, I decided it was time to put them together.

I chose these two settings.

 

I think I am going to put borders on this one.

 

Both will be for charity.

I had to do something while Bill was at work and the kids were all having sleepovers.

he's pretty amazing like that!

Kelly

spent 8 hours at the barn yesterday...

 
and could have stayed longer!

And like good brothers, they came to watch for a couple of hours...

 
and didn't even complain!

It was pretty impressive watching these two jump...

 
 
 

And I got lots of lovin' from this little guy...

 

and she did not stay still for one minute...

 
and never stopped talking! Too cute.

It was really nice spending the day with Haley and Patches,

 

and Allison and Levi,

 

and Carly and Thai,

 

and Maureen and Kit,

 

and let's not forget the two new guys at the barn, this is Sid,

 

and Zorro...

 

but Rockstar took the day off to nurse a boo boo on his back heel.

 

Really, how could you ask for better company?

It was a wonderful day.
