We finished school early today and went to see this movie...
It was awesome!
Bill called from Tel Aviv (for free via google) to say he has been reinstated to 767Captain....wahooooooo!
That means he can be home more, and make more money (or at least as much as he did before he got sent to the 777.) Trust me, it's a good thing, but it means I will have to go on as many of his trips as I want to very soon, if I want to see places like Tel Aviv, Dubai, Sydney and Johannesburg.
Excuse me, I have some packing to do...
ETA: Bill just wanted me to clarify the reinstatement matter. Since he has gotten calls and emails from friends ...I didn't realize my blog was so popular. Anyway, here goes. From 2007 till about 4 months ago Bill was a 767 Captain and due to the Delta/Northwest merger, many senior Northwest pilots wanted Bill's position. Guess all those Detroit families wanted to move South. Due to Bill's lower seniority he had to take a temporary "displacement" to international 777 First Officer. He could have chosen to go back to the smaller planes (MD-88 or 737) and remain a Captain, but the life of a "narrow-body" Captain, as he put's it "SUCKS." Gone all the time... 4 to 5 legs a day and less money. He did it for many years. Instead, he chose to swallow his pride and sit in the right seat again in a great international category (Boeing 777 - Delta's Flagship) where he would have more time at home, good seniority meaning his choice of trips and days off and minimal pay loss (about the same as narrow-body Captain) until he could get back to Wide-body Captain. No, re-instatement does not mean he had done something wrong and was now being reinstated...my bad, guess I should have explained better.
